On-Demand Seminar
Commercial Fiber Optic Sensors for Temperature and Strain Monitoring (Slide Deck Only)
Seminar Summary
Fiber optic sensors provide immunity to EMI/RFI, magnetic fields, RF & microwave fields, high voltage and radiation – plus their incredibly small size and ability to reach longer distances than conventional thermocouples, strain gauges, and similar electronics-based sensors.
This seminar will provide an overview of single point GaAs thermometry (for high precision temperature measurements) and single/multipoint Fiber Bragg Grating sensors (for temperature and strain monitoring) as well as illustrate their use in a selection of medical, aerospace, and industrial applications
Key Learnings
- Learn principles of Fiber Optic Sensor technology and its benefits
- Understand pros and cons of two FO Temperature technologies/products (GaAs and FBGs)
- Understand how Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor technology works and allows single or multipoint sensing
- Understand how to use FBG sensors to measure temperature or strain or both
This seminar was originally presented at the Anaheim Electronics and Manufacturing Show (Anaheim, CA) on September 27, 2023.
